As an Expert Administrative Operative in Policy Areas, your job will mainly be to assist the Ambassador as well as the First Secretary in following policy domains:

1.    Political & economical section: knowledge management of certain thematic files:

  • Search, gather, archive, translate and analyse relevant information from different sources
  • Participate in events/symposiums/meetings/briefings or others and extend network of embassy’s contacts
  • Write summaries or list key elements of the files and propose conclusions, ideas for action etc.
  • Point of Contact for Indonesian Ministries in thematic economic files, related to market access.

2. Academic diplomacy: administrative and operational support

  • Managing contacts with Indonesian alumni of Belgian universities;
  • Mapping and follow-up of university projects from Belgian institutions of higher education in Indonesia;
  • Point of Contact for Belgian and EU initiatives on higher education in Indonesian and ASEAN context (e.g. Higher Education Fair, Scholarship Day etc.);
  • Supporting events undertaken by the Embassy (logistics, communication)

3.     Public diplomacy: event organising

  • Manage the planning, preparation and execution of outreach activities and events of the Embassy (logistics and programming)
  • Back-up support for implementation of communication strategy (e.g., preparing posts for social media, making videos)

Requirements:

  • Study: university degree (a degree in political sciences, international studies or related field - or equivalent through relevant experience - is an advantage)
  • Work experience: 5 years
  • Clean criminal record (Surat Keterangan Catatan Kepolisian)
  • Languages: Bahasa Indonesia and advanced English, knowledge of French and/or Dutch is an advantage
  • Good writing & oral skills
  • Familiar with domains and topics related to diplomacy and foreign policy
  • Working knowledge of domestic developments and government in Indonesia
  • Being familiar with Belgium and/or European Union is an advantage
  • Proven organizational skills and hands-on mentality, preferably prior experience in organising events
  • ICT and communication savvy: Internet tools, Microsoft Office, social media, visual tools (e.g., Canva, Kapwing, prezi)
